Qualifications: Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies Master of Arts degree for Reading Specialist Certification in Educational Leadership

Mrs. Amber Gonzales

My name is Amber Gonzales and I am excited to introduce myself as the new school Principal for Copperfield Elementary School. I am honored to have the opportunity to lead alongside a great staff at a school full of rich traditions that strive for excellence in education. I am enthusiastic about joining a great community where we can empower our students to seek their full potential.

My professional background is rooted in education, leadership, and literacy.  After receiving my Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from UTSA, I continued at UTSA and also earned my Master of Arts degree for Reading Specialist and my certification in Educational Leadership. For the past twenty years, I have worked in public education as a middle school reading teacher, Reading Specialist, department coordinator, Vice Principal, elementary and middle school Principal, and as a District Hearing Officer. Eighteen of those twenty years were in Northside ISD.  This is my first year in Judson ISD and I look forward to using these collective experiences as your new principal.

On a personal note, I have had the privilege to live all over the world.  My father worked for the government and my husband was in the Air Force.  I was born in Nicosia Cyprus, a small island near Greece.  I have also lived in India, Brazil, Ecuador, Virginia, Japan, and Oklahoma.  I do consider Texas home, as it is where my heart is. Texas is where I met and married my best friend. I have been married for 33 years to my husband, Freddie.  We have three amazing children Ashley, Chase and Erika.  They are all grown and live and work here in the San Antonio area.

I view education as a life-long process and continue to learn every year from students, teachers, and parents. Most importantly, I believe that students are at the center of all school-related decisions.  Because the relationships between families and the school are vital to the success of our students, I encourage you to become involved in every way possible.  I look forward to meeting you soon!
